LGBTQ Violence

The Mayor's Office of GLBT Affairs has provided new funding to create a model curriculum to combat fatal assaults on LGBTQ youth of color. This support is especially important because DC has long been the epicenter of violent attacks on young Black MtF transgender women -- with three new victims in just the past 20 months. This project will include conducting focus groups and in-depth interviews with young men of color to better understand both the motivation for this kind of violence as well as the best way to design a model "best practice" curriculum to address it. A coalition of a dozen local and national groups is partnering with us on this effort.
